Kakigōri (かき氷)

Kakigōri (かき氷) tasting event scheduled for the first Sundays in August and September. Perfect for the hot summer, Konomichi owner Ms. Umezawa will serve this special summer dessert on traditional tableware from the Taishō period. Kakigōri is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with syrup and a sweetener, often condensed milk. In fact, the first kakigōri store is believed to have opened in Yokohama in 1869. This event will feature 5 flavors: Blueberry, Raspberry, Plum, Yuzu, Summer Orange plus rice cake (mochi) and hōjicha.

第一弾は8月と9月の第一日曜日に開催されるかき氷の試食会。

暑い夏にぴったりのかき氷を、「此のみち」オーナーの梅澤さんが日本の伝統的な食器である漆器で提供する。かき氷は、シロップと甘味料(多くは練乳)で味付けされた日本のかき氷デザートである。1869年に横浜で初めてかき氷店がオープンしたと言われている。

今回のイベントでは5つのフレーバーが登場する: ブルーベリー、ラズベリー、プラム、ゆず、サマーオレンジの5つのフフルーツソース。(すべて梅澤さんの手作り)それに白玉団子(もち米で作った日本の伝統的なお菓子)とほうじ茶が楽しめる。

Where East meets West in Yokohama!

Enjoy Japanese culture & Japanese lunch in a Taishō period Japanese traditional house.

Held at the Konomichi restaurant in the historic Yamate-area of Yokohama this special tour includes both an inside look at a Japanese traditional house featuring tatami mat flooring, sliding doors (fusuma) and a Zen garden +  Japanese typical Ochazuke lunch - a unique dish dating back to the 14th century. The tour is held in English with detailed explanations.
